Some
say that the proper place for a surfer should be in the waves,
not behind a camera. Fortunately since the early ages of surfing
some guys have had a different opinion. In our film section,
we will focus on the movies shot after surfing had been elevated
from a sport to a way of life. From
legendary directors as Falzon, Greenough, Jepsen or Witzig to
the younger they have inspired, we will bring you the DVDs as
soon as they are available in European format. Subscribe
to our newsletter if you’d like to build an extensive movie
collection, we’ll keep you informed. |

THE SEPTEMBER SESSIONS by Jack Johnson, 2000
The second opus of the Moonshine
Comspiracy trilogy; co-produced by Kelly Slater.
Take a bunch of top surfers keen
to source good waves during a few weeks, put them on a boat
in Sumatra and wait for the swell. As the guys recall: "waves
were as good as waves can get" (!!), and in my opinion
this movie is the occasion to reckon that Kelly was born from
a dolphin. Just very impressive.
Like in the 2 other films, you
get a bonus soudtrack CD: jazzy funky bluesy johnsonny tunes
including the moody "F-stop blues" that was composed
by Jack between the sessions. Other artists are Greyboy, G.
Love, Ozomatli, Bombay the Hard Way and Princes of Babylon.
RIDERS: Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Brad Gerlach,
Ross Williams and Luke Egan
LOCATIONS: Sumatra |
