Some say that the proper place for a surfer should be in the waves, not behind a camera. Fortunately since the early ages of surfing some guys have had a different opinion. In our film section, we will focus on the movies shot after surfing had been elevated from a sport to a way of life.
From legendary directors as Falzon, Greenough, Jepsen or Witzig to the younger they have inspired, we will bring you the DVDs as soon as they are available in European format.

STYLEMASTERS by Greg Weaver & Spyder Wills. 1970's

May be our best film on board. Definitely belonging to the roots, but showing surfers pushing things forward.

1970's. Short boards have spread all over the line ups and hot dogging has became the new style. But how do you call it when it means carving on 15' waves. A style is being re-defined. "We all had to go to the North Shore and do it... so we did" remembers Pete Townend. Shaun Tomson and Rabbit Batholomew are among the travellers ending there to get a name challenging pipe masters like Gerry Lopez. "They came to spend 4 months there without any money, and didn't want to work. They really needed to win the competitions... and so they did" recalls Gerry. With 100% origninal footage from the 70's on the North Shore, Stylemasters is a journey back to time of change, when boards became shorter and movements more radical. A time when style was what mattered, and there where no limits as to where surfing could go.

Bonus includes interviews of today Gerry Lopez, Peter "PT" Townend, Shaun Tomson, Rabbit, Buttons Haluhiokalani, Dan Merkel, Greg Weaver and Syder Wills, plus extra style surf sessions, and a Merkel Classics slide show.
