Some
say that the proper place for a surfer should be in the waves,
not behind a camera. Fortunately since the early ages of surfing
some guys have had a different opinion. In our film section,
we will focus on the movies shot after surfing had been elevated
from a sport to a way of life. From
legendary directors as Falzon, Greenough, Jepsen or Witzig to
the younger they have inspired, we will bring you the DVDs as
soon as they are available in European format. Subscribe
to our newsletter if you’d like to build an extensive movie
collection, we’ll keep you informed. |

THE FAR SHORE by Gregory Schell, 2003 A
ten years trip around the globe started in 1972in the search
for perfect waves... Does it talk to you? Star
Surfer mag. photographer Craig Peterson brought some very classic
pictures from that trip that you will recognize in the movie.
His road-mate Kevin Naughton shot with his Super 8 camera during
this period.
Great footage! Unfortunately Greg Schell made a documentary
out of this material instead of an artistic film. Surfing is
cut with today interviews of the two travellers, far too often.
Still, this is History.

RIDERS: Kevin Naughton & Craig Peterson
LOCATIONS: California, Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, West
Africa, Sahara Desert, Morocco, Ireland, France and Fiji. |
